How Do Daily Vitamins Keep the Body Healthy?

Vitamins are essential for the body. Most of them come from food or sunlight but it is possible to take supplements if there is a deficiency. The problem is that so many people don’t realise just how vitamins keep the body healthy, so they take them for granted. Here are some of the factors that you need to know.

    Boost the Immune System

Vitamin C is known for boosting the immune system and promoting the growth of healthy tissue. It helps you fight off infections and diseases, so you don’t suffer from them as much. This is one that you need to take on a daily basis, whether as a supplement or through food, because the body cannot make or store this. It’s really easy to get it through oranges, lemons and other citrus fruits, as well as carrots, bell peppers other than the green ones and many other orange/yellow/red fruits and vegetables.

Vitamin A is also beneficial for the immune system and another that should be taken on a daily basis. It also helps with eye sight and adapting to darker places. Vitamin A is one of the easiest to gain, whether through a variety of fruits and vegetables (especially dark leafy greens) or from dairy products and eggs.

    Build Strong Bones

While calcium is the main reason for strong bones, it is not the only reason. Vitamin D is vital for strong and healthy bones. There are many cases of rickets and scurvy because children aren’t getting out in the sun—the main source of this vitamin. It is advisable to take supplements when living in countries that are known for a lack of sun!

Protecting the Nerves and Blood Cells

The B vitamins are extremely important but easy to miss out on. Vitamin B12 helps with the production of DNA and supports the nerves and blood cells. Meanwhile, B9 (folic acid) helps to reduce the development of foetal deformities. B6 can help to fight against heart disease. They are all found in grain foods, cereals, rice milk and fish, among other similar foods.

Getting your daily vitamins is essential. They help the body develop and prevent many life-threatening diseases. It is relatively easy to get the majority of them from a healthy and well-balanced diet but you can also take supplements.
